Undergraduate Programs

  1. General
    UW is open to all candidates regardless of religion, race, creed, financial resources or domicile. It offers 4 years degree programs, i.e., the degrees of BSc Engineering, BS Engineering Technology, BS, BBA and 1.5 years B.Ed. The candidates can apply online as well as in person at the University. The admission is offered on open merit. The criteria for each discipline is followed as per the instructions of regulatory bodies. The admission dates are advertised in the national newspapers and official UW website of. An admission cell is established at the University for the candidates desirous to apply in person.   2. Admission Criteria
    1. Engineering Programs
      • FSc (Pre-Engineering)/DAE or equivalent with minimum 60% marks.
      • FSc/ICS for Software Engineering with minimum 50% marks.Additional courses to be taken by the candidates with FSc Pre-medical in the University.
      • B.Tech or equivalent as per PEC Policy.
    2. Non Engineering Programs
      • FA/FSc or equivalent with 2nd division.
      • FSc/ICS for Computer Science andArtificial Intelligence with minimum 50% marks. Additional courses to be taken by the candidates with FSc Pre-medical in the University.
      • BA/BSc/Associate Degree or equivalent with 2nd division for seeking admission in BS 5th Semester.
    3. Engineering Technology Programs
      • FSc (Pre-Engineering)/DAE or equivalent with minimum 50% marks.
      • Two percent seats may be reserved for Children of foreigner/ Expatriates.
    • One seat in each department has been reserved for the wards of the University and its constituent colleges’s employees, who have completed seven years of service.
    • All allocated seats if not filled will be converted to open merit seats.
    • In case number of students registering for a particular program is less than the desired class strength, the program will not be offered and students will be adjusted in alternative choices.
    • Selected students will be required to furnish medical fitness certificate from registered medical practitioner at the time of joining a program of study.
  3. Prospectus
    • The Prospectus is available online and from Accounts Branch/Admission Committee of University of Wah on cash payment.
    • The Prospectus can also be obtained by sending a Bank Draft/Pay Order in favor of University of Wah.
  4. Submission of Application
    • Application form can be submitted online using online link available at uow.edu.pk. Hard copies of application form with required documents may be sent through registered post for further processing.
    • Walk-in applicants can also submit their application with required documents to representative of Admission Cell at University of Wah/Wah Engineering College for Engineering Candidates.
  5. Entry Test for Engineering/Technology Programs
    • Entry test for Engineering/Technology applicants will be held at Wah Engineering College as per schedule.
  6. Offer of Admission as per Discipline Choice
    • Admission will be offered in a discipline as per order of preference given by an applicant in the admission form.
  7. Change of Discipline
    • After admission is offered, a candidate may apply for the change of discipline to a lower preference within one week of the start of classes after adjusting fees difference. The change of discipline is subject to availability of seats and meeting the merit of discipline to which the candidate has applied for.
  8. Merit Lists
    • Discipline wise merit lists will be prepared and announced online by the Admission Office for the offer of admission.
  9. Fee Refund
    • The candidates who apply for cancellation of their admission will be refunded tuition fee according to the HEC policy letter No. 10-1/HEC/A&C/2015/6542 dated 7th December, 2015.
      1. Full Tuition Fee will be refunded if a candidate applies for cancellation of his/her admission up to the 7 day after commencement of classes.
      2. Half Tuition Fee will be refunded in case a candidate sends a request for cancellation of admission from 8 -15 day of classes.
      3. Admission Fee will not be refunded if a candidate applies for cancellation of his/her admission after the 15 day of start of classes.
      4. If a candidate, to whom admission is offered fails to obtain minimum CGPA/division required for a program, his/her admission will be cancelled and will be refunded full fee (if stay is less than 02 months and 50% after 02 months of classes) exceptAdmission Fee.
    Note: All types of security fee will be refunded after adjustment of dues, if any.
  10. Scholarships and Financial Assistance
      1. Merit Based Scholarship
        • Merit Scholarship will be based on entry session and not on section strength.
        • Minimum GPAfor Merit scholarship will be as under:

        Merit Scholarship amount will be as under:

        1. 1st Position : 75% of tuition fee
        2. 2nd Position : 50% of tuition fee
        3. 3rd Position : 25% of tuition fee

        Number of students to be awarded scholarships in the entry session would relate to the overall strength of students as under:

        1. Individual : 15-30
        2. 2 Individuals : 31-40
        3. 3 Individuals : Above 40
  11. Need Based Scholarship
    • The scholarships may be recommended by the Scholarship Committee in different brackets up to a maximum of 50% concession in the tuition fee after ascertaining the needs of the applicants. Minimum qualifying GPAfor the scholarship will be 2.75 GPA(with No F & D grade).
  12. Scholarship on Kinship Basis
    • Two siblings: one of the students will get up to 50% waiver in tuition fee.
    • Three siblings: one of the students will get up to 50% and the second up to 30% waiver in tuition fee.
    • Additional siblings: will be offered up to 20% waiver in tuition fee.
    • Minimum qualifying GPAfor the scholarship will be 2.75 (with No F & D grade).
  13. Fee Waiver Wards of UW Employees
    • Wards of Officers : 30%
    • Wards of other staff : 50%
    • Minimum qualifying GPA for the scholarships will be 2.75 (with No F & D grade).
  14. Fee Waiver Wards of POFs Employees
    • Wards of Officers :10%
    • Wards of Workers :15%

  2. Admission Criteria
    1. MS/MBA Programs
      • MA/MSc/BS/BBA/BSc Engineering degree or its equivalent in the relevant discipline.
      • CGPA 2.00/4.00 or its equivalent.
      • Cleared GRE- General/ GAT-General or UW Entry Test (Minimum 50% Marks/percentile).
      • Recommended by the Departmental Admission Committee after interview.
    2. PhD Programs
      • MS/MPhil Degree or equivalent in the relevant discipline with research/thesis.
      • CGPA 3.00/4.00 or its equivalent (70%).
      • Cleared GRE-Subject (Minimum 60% Percentile), or GAT Subject (Minimum 60% Marks), or UW Entry Test (Minimum 70% Marks).
      • Recommended by the Departmental Admission Committee after interview.
  3. Prospectus
    • The Prospectus is available online/ Accounts Branch/ Admission Committee of University of Wah on cash payment.

      1. Incentives for UW Graduate Students (All Faculties)
        • Graduate Assistantship (GAs) is a university appointment that allows graduate students to gain valuable training and professional experience in teaching, research or administration, while providing service to the University.
        • Additional Incentives - Graduate Programs:

          • 9-12 Contact Hours per week (Labs/Administrative Tasks)
          • Enrollment in courses/research in regular semester (Fall/Spring) is mandatory.
          Fee Waiver 100% tuition fee to be waived off
          Stipend per month Rs. 15,000/-
          Contract Period Minimum Residency of 2 years
          Terms & Conditions
          • For Assistantship NOC/BOND is required to be submitted.
          • Assistantship is subject to satisfactory progress report to be submitted by the Chairperson in the mid and at the end of semester.
          • In case a student wishes to discontinue Assistantship, he/she will have to surrender all the benefits.

          PhD

          • 4 Assistantships will be offered per year/department as per the requirement. Maximum of two faculty members of UW/department can avail this facility at a time.
          • Eligibility criteria as under:
            • CGPA≥ 3.25.
            • Maintain GPA≥ 3.50 in the succeeding semesters.
            • .Satisfactory Research progress.
          • Non-UW employee
            • CGPA≥ 3.50.
            • Maintain GPA≥ 3.50 in the succeeding semesters.
            • Satisfactory Research progress.
          Responsibility
          • 3-6 Credit hours per week (Teaching/Administrative Tasks).
          • Enrollment in courses/research in regular semester (Fall/Spring) is mandatory
          Fee Waiver 100% tuition fee to be waived off
          Stipend per month
          • 50% Gross Salary of the faculty at the time of admission.
          • 25,000/ Rs. (Non- UW Employee)
          Contract Period Minimum Residency of 3 years
          Terms & Conditions
          • For Assistantship NOC/BOND is required to be submitted.
          • Assistantship is subject to satisfactory progress report to be submitted by the Chairperson in the mid and the end semester.
          • In case a student wishes to discontinue Assistantship, he/she will have to surrender all the benefits.
      2. Merit Scholarship for MS
        • 50% Tuition fee waiver in First Semester for students with minimum CGPA≥ 3.65 (for Social Sciences ≥ 3.5) in BS.
        • 50% Tuition fee waiver for students with minimum GPA in previous Semester ≥ 3.65 (for social sciences ≥ 3.5)
        OR
        • 50% Tuition fee waiver for students with satisfactory research progress duly certified by Supervisor in case of Non-graded previous Semester.
        • GA's are not eligible for Merit Scholarship.
      3. Merit Scholarship for PhD
        • 50% Tuition fee waiver in First Semester for students with minimum CGPA≥ 3.65 (for Social Sciences ≥ 3.5) in MS.
        • 50% Tuition fee waiver for students with minimum GPA in previous Semester ≥ 3.65 (for Social Sciences ≥ 3.5).
    OR
      • 50% Tuition fee waiver for students with satisfactory research progress duly certified by Supervisor in case of non-graded previous semester.
      • GA's are not eligible for Merit Scholarship.
  8. Concession in Tuition Fee
    • 15% Tuition Fee Concession to the children of POF Employees.
    • 15% Tuition Fee Concession to the Alumni of UW (within two years of last degree completion).
  9. Research Assistant
    • Any faculty member who has got a Project (grant) may engage RAs (Research Assistant) to conduct research under his/her direction and determine the nature of research work required for the assistantship.
